Photography composition is one of the most important factors in getting a great looking image. Sure Portrait lighting is important but the best looking lighting in the world is not going to save a poorly composed image.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when shooting portraits outdoors. Use the elements and shapes around you to create interest in your photos.

Think about shapes and poses and how that relates to your surroundings. Use a nearby tree as a lead in to your portrait. Also consider complimentary colors that appear in the background.

Believe it or not green does not make the best background for an outdoor portrait. Just a few tips to keep in mind on your next outdoor portrait shoot.
