Demonstrating just a couple ways of achieving a glow effect in 3ds Max 2009, using mental ray.
Couple things to note is that since each scene will be different, you will have to adjust your lighting other parameters like “luminance” to fit your scene.
I didn’t mention this, but in the camera shader “Glare” parameters, you can put a check in the box for “streaks” and rather than a perfect glowing halo, there will be some neat streaks in it to give a different effect.
